Nikki Laurence is a London-based Musical Director, with 25 years' experience in the musical theatre industry.
Originally a musical theatre performer, she trained in Musical Direction at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland.

VOCAL COACHING
Nikki is an industry-leading expert in coaching performance, vocal technique and audition skills.
Combined with her performance anxiety coaching credentials, Nikki's diverse professional experience ensures the best possible performance from the artists she works with.
Having graduated from London Studio Centre with a BA (Hons) in Theatre Dance in 2000, Nikki went on to enjoy a 10 year career as a performer across the genres of musical theatre, straight acting, commercial dance and live music, before moving into the vocational training sector. As a singing teacher, she has worked at many of the UK's top vocational performing arts conservatoires including Urdang, ArtsEd, Italia Conti, Mountview, London Studio Centre and LAMDA.
Nikki moved into leadership roles in 2012; first as Head of Musical Theatre at BodyWork Company Dance Studios, then heading to Barcelona to create and lead the musical theatre department of the brand new Institute of the Arts Barcelona as Head of Musical Theatre from 2015. Returning to the UK, Nikki took over as Course Leader at Italia Conti before returning to London Studio Centre as Head of Musical Theatre in 2022.


As well as her work in musical direction and performing arts education, Nikki is also a qualified, certified and accredited coach. In 2020 she graduated from Queen Mary University of London with an MSc with Distinction in Creative Arts and Mental Health. Through her Masters research, Nikki set up a performance anxiety coaching practice, and has worked successfully with clients in many fields including theatre, music, sport, business, finance, law and technology. Continuing her professional development in this field, Nikki is completing a Professional Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, and undertaking the Professional Doctorate in Elite Performance at the University of Lancashire, where her research focus is performance anxiety and resilience in musical theatre performers.
Nikki completed formal coach training in 2025 through Optimus Coach Academy, meaning she is now fully qualified and eligible for accreditation with the ICF, EMCC and AC; the gold standard accreditation for professional coaches worldwide.
Her combination of creative experience as a musical director and performer, vocational training experience in vocal coaching and educational leadership, and extensive and continuing research in the area of performance anxiety means she can offer wraparound support for all your performance needs.
